In this 5-week course we will explore the internal worlds of our imaginations and memories at the same time as exploring our exterior environment in order to produce a series of drawings and paintings. We will work with a range of drawing and water-based painting materials and explore their properties and potential.

The course is suitable for beginners and for artists with experience who want to loosen up and adopt a ‘beginners mind’ again.

The sessions will be playful, experimental and irreverent. We will assemble ideas in sketch books as a record of the process and as a way of developing ideas which can be use as the basis for a painting or body of work.

We will endeavour to cultivate a childlike curiosity and develop a carefree approach to gain best access to our imaginations and memories. With reference to the work of a variety of selected artists we will reflect upon their processes and objects of enquiry to discover how to see things anew and extend our own ways of seeing.

Time: 6pm - 8pm

NOTE: Individual sessions cannot be booked as this runs as a course. Please book the 28th January 2026 ticket and that will entitle you to all sessions.
