Join The Minories Bank Staff Team

We are building a small bank of reliable, friendly freelance staff to support our busy programme of weddings, bar service, events and venue hire at The Minories in Colchester. If you enjoy working in a creative environment and like varied, practical work, we’d love to hear from you.

The role

Work is offered on an ad-hoc, freelance basis, with shifts mainly evenings and weekends, plus some daytime set-ups. Typical duties include:

- Wedding and event set-up and reset (moving furniture, laying out spaces, basic decor support).

- Bar work and basic hospitality service.

- Front of house welcome and guest support during events.

- Locking up and end-of-night checks (after training).

You can choose which shifts you accept, so this works well alongside other study, work or creative practice.

Pay and conditions

Freelance basis, £15 per hour.

Paid for all hours on site, including set-up and close-down.

Shifts offered as needed; there is no guaranteed minimum number of hours.

You will need to be eligible to work in the UK and able to get to and from central Colchester for late finishes.

Who we’re looking for

We’re interested in people who:

- Are punctual, responsible and comfortable working without close supervision.

- Are confident talking to visitors and wedding guests in a calm, polite manner.

- Are happy with physical tasks such as moving tables, chairs and stock.

- Have experience in bars, events, hospitality or front of house (helpful but not essential).

- An interest in the arts and events is a bonus, but a positive attitude and reliability are most important.
