Draw From Becker

The day’s drawing will focus on Harry Becker’s great facility for drawing from life. Alongside artist Jevan Watkins Jones, study a selection of Becker’s drawings, experiment with his techniques and assimilate them with your own through creative drawing tasks in the Front Room and from life in the garden.

Basic drawing materials will be supplied.
You’re welcome to bring your preferred materials also.

This drawing workshop celebrates the acquisition of a new Becker drawing, Horses and Binder Teams for the VBLF collection held at The Minories.

His drawings, etchings, lithographs and paintings capture, with passion and sensitivity, labourers in the field and horses at work in the landscape he most cared for.

Harry Becker lived at The Minories with his parents and siblings between 1865 and 1903.
It’s from here that he started out on his artistic journey studying at the Royal Academy in Antwerp aged fourteen 1879 - 81.
