In Our Time is the second exhibition by The Minories Artists’ Network, bringing together works from contemporary artists working in the area.
The artists reflect on the present through themes of hope, joy, and resilience. They offer ideas of connection, meaning, and possibility, holding onto aspects of the times we share.
Joy is rooted in the present moment, the simple, everyday experiences that bring comfort and happiness. These works celebrate the beauty we find in daily life, however small: a familiar street, a shared meal, a quiet room filled with light. These works also capture memories we hold close: portraits of people we love, scenes of cherished places, and moments of being alone together within a community. Together, these artworks highlight the micro moments that make us smile and remind us of what truly sustains us.
Resilience reflects the tension many of us feel between the reality of now and the dreams we still carry. It acknowledges difficult times, uncertainty, and division, yet focuses on our ability to keep moving forward. These works explore more challenging subjects, shaped by a build-up of moments from the past or even across a lifetime. Rather than offering easy comfort, they recognise struggle while affirming the determination to grow through it.
Hope looks beyond the present toward what might come next. It focuses on future possibilities and how we might change the systems and structures that shape our lives. These works are often more abstract, using form, colour, and material to suggest new ways of thinking rather than clear narratives.
About the Minories Artists’ Network
The Minories Artists’ Network connects artists and creators from East Anglia to make, share and sell their work. The network currently has 100 members, including sculptors, painters, ceramicists, printers, felters, weavers, photographers and digital artists.
We meet at events, talks, workshops and organise exhibitions to create a community where we can be involved and grow our practise. The network offers a collegial space for the artists to step beyond the solitude of our studio, engage in critical dialogue, and build meaningful relationships through our shared creative endeavour.
With our public exhibitions we actively engage local audiences to showcase our work and our vision, while strengthening the vitality of East Anglia’s contemporary arts landscape.
The Minories Artists’ Network is an initiative of We are the Minories, the charity which manages the spaces and creative programme at the Minories Gallery.
Exhibition Opening Event: Saturday 4 April, 12-3pm. All Welcome
