Lynn Foster is a multi-media abstract artist and designer/maker, creating work in glass, metal, wood, plaster and ceramics. Her principal influences are mid-century and Japanese design and 20th and 21st century artists such as Tapies, Chilida, Miro, Bourgeois, Keifer and Noguchi.
Lynn’s kiln formed glass work, using imported Bullseye art glass, is largely abstract and asymmetrical, and includes functional bowls and platters as well as sculptural pieces.
Lynn’s sculptural work includes free standing pieces as well as wall based and hanging work, most using metal as the primary material, though a recent experimental series features ceramic heads. Some pieces are embellished with found objects, such as the Bicycle Series shown here, with the backgrounds either rusted or stained.
The Black Haiku series starts with steel sheets, which Lynn “paints” with metal stains and then welds thin steel rods onto the surface. Lynn’s newest sculptures use aluminium, and can be hung from the ceiling, or against a wall
and are also suitable for outdoors.
More recently, Lynn has been exploring collage, incorporating not only paper and card, but wood, plastic, wire and textiles.
