Emerging Curator Residency

We're looking for an emerging curator based in East Anglia to join us at The Minories for a paid residency culminating in an exhibition in our gallery this summer.

This is an opportunity for someone at the start of their curatorial career - curious, ambitious, and ready to develop their practice with real support behind them.

During your time with us, you'll have access to:

- One-to-one mentoring with our Director

- The permanent art collection of the Victor Batte-Lay Foundation, most of which can be viewed on this website: https://www.vblfcollection.org.uk/collection/

- A space to work in our building if you require it.

- Access to our network of artists, makers, and cultural contacts across the region and beyond.

- A dedicated budget for your exhibition.

The Exhibition

You'll propose and deliver your own exhibition in our gallery space, which will take place between 19 August and 6 September. We welcome proposals on any theme, though we're particularly interested in ideas that respond to the Victor Batte-Lay Foundation collection or our Grade II* listed building.

Who Should Apply

You should apply if you:

- Are based in East Anglia

- Are in the early stages of your curatorial career (0–3 years' experience)

- Have an idea, however embryonic, that excites you

- Want dedicated time, a real budget, and genuine mentorship to help bring it to life

We welcome applications from people who haven't had access to formal curatorial training. What matters most is your thinking, your curiosity, and your connection to this region.

Deadline: 15 May 2025 at 5pm

We're happy to have an informal conversation before you apply - just get in touch.

This opportunity has been funded by the Hervey Benham Charitable Trust.
